Allies Way, Inc. (“Allies Way,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Allies Connect platform (“Platform”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Platform. By using the Platform, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account registration: Name, email address, and password when you create a volunteer or provider account.
  • Provider profiles: Organization name, contact information, address, mission, and listing details submitted by providers.
  • Volunteer signups: Name, email address, phone number, employer name, number of people, and notes submitted when signing up for volunteer opportunities.
  • Support requests: Name and email when you contact us.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data such as pages viewed, features used, and actions taken on the Platform.
  • Device and browser information including browser type, operating system, and IP address.
  • Referral URLs and session data.

Information from third parties:

  • Payment information processed by Stripe (we do not store full card numbers; Stripe handles payment data under its own privacy policy).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Platform.
  • Create and manage your account.
  • Facilitate volunteer signups and share relevant signup information with the provider managing the opportunity.
  • Send transactional emails, including signup confirmations, reminders, and account notices.
  • Process provider subscription payments.
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
  • Monitor Platform usage and improve user experience.
  • Enforce our Terms of Use and protect platform integrity.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With providers (volunteer signups): When you sign up for a volunteer opportunity, your name and contact information are shared with the organization managing that opportunity for scheduling, attendance, reminders, and event communication.
  • With service providers: We use Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), and email service providers to operate the Platform. These providers process your information on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • For legal compliance: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Allies Way, users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or reorganization, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Provider listing information (organization name, address, phone, website, hours, eligibility, etc.) is made publicly available as part of the community directory and may be indexed by search engines.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Maintain your login session.
  • Remember preferences.
  • Analyze Platform usage.

You can disable cookies through your browser settings, but some features of the Platform may not function properly without them.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. We may retain certain information for longer periods to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Volunteer signup records may be retained by the Platform and by the provider organization for documentation and reporting purposes.

6. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at support@alliesway.org.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal information (subject to certain exceptions).

The Platform contains links to provider websites and third-party resources. These sites operate under their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their data practices.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. Material changes will be communicated to registered users where feasible.
